The Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill is currently under consideration. If passed, it will make changes to the provisions of the Children and Young Persons Act 1933 and will affect children working in England who are under the compulsory school leaving age.
The proposals include:
- a requirement for all employers of children to have a permit
- changes to restrictions on working hours for children
It is proposed that children be allowed to work up to one hour before school and until 8pm on school days (currently 7pm), as well as removing the two-hour restriction on a Sunday.
